Dr. Tunya Griffin
Dr. Tunya Griffin is an activist, and scholar who advocates for the oppressed.
A weaver of Black Liberation Theology and systems thinking as a comprehensive approach used in organizational change and development. The systems thinking approach contrasts with traditional analysis, which studies systems by breaking them down into separate elements. Systems Thinking is useful in addressing complex or wicked problems or situations.
Dr. Griffin’s dissertation Overcoming Barriers To Leadership Equality In The Black Church addresses the relationship among race, gender, and cultural perceptions of leadership equality. Dr. Griffin’s dissertation is published and can be found on ProQuest.
Dr. Griffin holds a bachelor’s in organizational management, a Master of Divinity, and a Doctorate of Ministry from Northeastern Seminary at Roberts Wesleyan College. In her most recent role as Associate Director of University-Community Partnerships and Co-Instructor of “Community Sustainability” at Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT). She worked alongside community members, nonprofit organizations, public schools, churches, and governmental institutions to address the adverse structural, social, and economic conditions that profoundly affect livability, education, and prosperity — creating a stronger, more vibrant city.
